thats pretty raw to sleep in that minimal shelter. that vid made me want to try this out ASAP. Thanks for posting man, solid video. -Scrambled O
It only dragged it 90 feet. Big foot would of put it on, hit me over the head and carried the bag off to the kids. Food was in the bag opened. I think it was a curious, hungry hog or maybe a small black bear. Both live in the swamp where I like to go. Black bears are extremely rare in the south though. I know the ground was so torn up around my backpack it made identification hard. I was able to discern the animal was big. It also made no noise untill it was trying to get in my pack.
I put dirt over the rock to get it warm but not hot enough to melt my poncho. If you worry about that then put a lot of dirt down, then some wood. Go out and mess around with it ,it takes time to get it all right. Ass biting coyotes that must have been kind of scary to wake up to?! As far as your backpack being dragged, I have a theory…it was Big foot liked it but wasn’t smart enough to figure out how to open it. =)
I own all kinds of shelters. When I am by myself I like the security of a tent. Because when I sleep in a hammock I can not put my rifle by my side and I have had a coyote bite me on the ass. I’ve also had my backpack dragged 90 feet into the woods by something big and couldn’t do anything about it because my rifle was out of reach as I was high in a tree trying to sleep in my hammock. Wouldn’t your poncho melt since it is touching the hot rock?

cool idea man
very cool idea.
Thanks for posting.
I’m hoping to get out over Easter weekend. Hopefuly it will be cold enough.
Thanks. After you try it out you should let me know how it worked out for you. Remember if it doesn’t put off enough heat then maybe it needs to be bigger…
Good idea. I will have to give that a try. I used a tin can stove but it smoked me out and didn’t put off much heat.
That’s a pretty neat poncho setup! Have you seen the Hennessy hammocks? I usually dig a Dakota pit, but yours looks great for what your doing. It’s almost a rocket stove.
Awesome video. Even I could make that now. Cant wait to see the next ones.
I have put leaves and other small shrubs on the outside of the tent to cover the holes and it helps.
You should bring a nice pile of leaves in the tent with you to plug up the holes
Great video little brother. I’m picking up a new camera this weekend. I’ll start posting keep sending more videos
